ROWING
CAMP...
Our
head coach, Enzo Ademollo, has decades of experience coaching rowers
of all ages, as well as having been the national coordinator for
masters rowers and on the National Rowing Council. He has coached
athletes from novice right up to the Olympics. His coaching style
is Italian, with focus on making the most of imperfect body types
through perfection in technique. Assitant coach Eliza Camp, who
is also in charge of the cultural & culinary parts of your week,
is a Canadian who has lived in Italy for 11 years.
Rowers
will be asked to persevere, concentrate, and remember that what
we appreciate in rowing, and in Tuscany, are those things that only
time can create. The sculpted hills with millennial grape vines
were produced with patience, just as only thousands of strokes and
hundreds of practices can make for an "effortless" rowing
technique.
Video-taping sessions will enhance the workouts, as will off-water
meetings. The goal of our coaching is to create correct muscle memory
that will allow you to "feel" when you are doing things
the right way, enabling you to continue improvement at home. A series
of drills will be introduced to enhance this effect as well.
The
facilities at the lake, though not luxurious, include men's and
women's changing rooms with showers, plus a gym with a full set
of weight machines and Concept II ergometers. Our body of water
is a private rowing basin,
the water is clean and free of other boat traffic aside from kayaks.
If you're used to rowing in places where the water sludgy and you
dodge ferries regularly, it will be heaven. If you're used to the
Charles, it might seem spartan. Click here to see the
San Miniato Rowing Club that keeps us busy year-round! Look
through the pictures link to can see our lake in all its seasons.
