Visiting Pisa Medieval pageant in Florence Strolling in Naples Shadows on the buildings in San Gimignano

The culture of Italy, which rivals or even exceeds the natural beauty of this ancient land, offers many delights which have been seen so many times that even the least travelled feels as if they've been here. To a native of Tuscany like founder Enzo Ademollo, these classical meccas of tourism are only the very rudimentary beginnings of what makes his homeland so amazing. Together with co-founder Eliza Camp, a Canadian-American with years of life in Tuscany behind her, the day trips surrounding your rowing experience allow you to understand and feel the places we visit more than many Italians.  A day trip in Tuscany might be a trip to Baratti, a place along the coast south of Livorno, where Etruscan tombs live alongside a coastal pine grove. Or perhaps an afternoon in Bagno Vignoni, a hot spring favored by Roman emperors. Or a skirting of tourist-packed San Gimignano to head for Volterra, where Roman and Etruscan architecture reside tranquilly in the beautifully maintained, vibrant hill town. Another trip might see an afternoon of small, almost-empty museums in Florence, followed by an evening row under the Ponte Vecchio.  When Enzo's extensive knowledge isn't enough, other passionate souls get involved to talk about their area of study, such as archeology, cuisine, or wine.

For those with more curiosity than can be sated by day trips and tours, we also offer the possibility to study at Terralba. Italian language lessons, music history (Verdi, Rossini and others), art history, Florentine politics in the Medici period… any area of study can be arranged. We only work with professors who share our passion and love of Tuscany, and are selected based on the individual needs of the group. These sessions can also be extended to students who wish to stay for extended periods of time without missing out on their rowing training.
